7 At-Home Instagram and App Workouts We Swear By

Even in the midst of a pandemic, we don’t play games when it comes to staying fit, and we don’t want you to either. As state lockdowns kicked off around the country a month ago and gyms and fitness studios closed, we were on the hunt for the best at-home workouts we could find.

We’re still trying out new workouts every day, but there are seven Instagram and App workouts we swear by so far. Fair warning: none of these are easy. We want to push you so you can challenge your bodies and change them. Trust us, these work.

1. Effect Fitness Instagram Live Workouts: One day in this amped-up, Atlanta-based fitness studio’s virtual class will make you a believer in home workouts that help you drop pounds and sculpt. Classes are about 30 minutes long with little to no break time, and will leave you sweating and out of breath. Each day kicks off with a full body workout, great energy, and a fire playlist.

Workouts for the week are posted on @effectfitness on Sundays, along with the equipment you’ll need each day. That is usually a set of heavy weights, a set of light weights, arm bands, leg bands, and a brick. If you don’t have a brick, you can always use a stepping stool on carpet (but be careful. It can slip) or just step it out as if you’re working out with a brick.

Virtual classes are usually Monday-Thursday 5:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 5: 30 p.m. EST, Friday at 5:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. EST, Saturday at 10 a.m. EST and Sunday at 9 a.m. EST. Don’t miss it.

Linn Lowes’ Booty and Ab Workouts :  If you’re trying to lift and tone your glutes using resistance bands, take a look at Linn Lowes’ Instagram. After a month of doing the workouts on her page, we swear by it. She has her own paid workouts app, but you can also try out her techniques for free via her Instagram page. Linn also has great workouts for abs too.

Here is one of our fave glutes toning workouts with resistance bands from her page:

Jeanette Jenkins’ Total Body Instagram Workouts: We’ve been rocking with celebrity fitness trainer Jeanette Jenkins for as long as we can remember, and can tell you for sure that you can’t go wrong with any workout she posts on her Instagram page. Jeanette, who has trained the likes of Serena Williams and Pink,  shares everything from cardio and HIIT workouts, core sculpting routines, leg and glute toning workouts, total body routines, and then some.

Jeanette also has a paid subscription program called the Hollywood Trainer Club, which has over 150 healthy recipes and meal plans, over 500 workouts and challenges, and more.

Here’s one of our fave cardio workouts from Jeanette’s page (it was hard to choose just one):

8 Minute Abs – Youtube Level One and Two: Consider this core sculpting 101. If you’re participating in a 30-day abs challenge and need a good way to kick it off or if you want to knock out your ab workout in 8-10 minutes, give this a shot. An 8-minute workout may sound easy, but this one is tough, targets all areas of the core, and will help you tone and sculpt your abs. Start with level one and then work your way up to level two.

Level Two:

Nike Training Club Full Body Cardio Burn: When Nike Training Club made its premium classes free on the app for 30 days, we leapt at the opportunity to try it out. This is a 30+ minute heart pumping class led by Kirsty Godso that will challenge you and push you to the limit…and it’s worth it. You can expect tough bear crawls, squat jumps, cardio bursts and more to get your heart pumping and your body sweating.

Nike Training Club Cardio and Legs Hit: There’s something about Kirsty Godso’s workouts on this app that keep us coming back for more. This workout never gets easier no matter how many times we do it. It’s a combination of cardio bursts, and challenging leg and glute exercises that will have them both hurting the next day.

Nike Training Club Leg Power Up: 10 minutes into this workout, I thought ‘okay, this isn’t bad.’ By the time I finished the workout 25 minutes after that, I could hardly walk. This one is no game. It’s a great way to tone up your legs and glutes, with challenging strength training exercises and bursts of cardio exercises to boot.

*If you’re interested in a full program on the Nike Training Club app, try Burn With Kirsty Godso. All of the NTC workouts above only use bodyweight, but I amp them up with resistance bands and 10 or 15 pound dumbbells.
